· Researchers at the University of California at Davis reported that drinking a cup of hot cocoa can actually help stave off a stroke or heart attack by preventing blood clots from forming. Just like common aspirin, cocoa is believed to work its magic by interfering with the normal functioning of platelets, in the blood cells that can clump together inside your arteries.
